In her practise of social architcture Barnet Kansil explores how to build new social infrastructure where existing systems fall short, enabling people who are excluded from society to build their own creative practises and exercise self-determination. Through building spaces, networks and organisations new social connections and forms of collective practise are born. Throughout her practise Kansil examines how to navigate systems and laws that conflict with our senses of justice and human dignity. What choices do we make when legal frameworks stand at odd with our ethical principles and how can we create alternative ways of working and living togehter? Her practise is built on principles of mutuality, sharing and co-creation. Latest projects: The DOOR Project ”, The BAM Collective and Reclaim Your Space.
The BAM Collective
In the summer of 2022 we started a collective with and of craftspeople and artists who are new in the Netherlands. Through the collective the makers display their products and together we explore ways to make a living from it, in a legal way.

In this project women with a refugee background co-create images that depict their stories: ordinary human stories, beautiful and sad ones.
